Acrylic & Alkyd Floor Paints

The listed acrylic and alkyd coatings use different resin/base systems and have separate application instructions. Compare their substrate, finish, traffic and curing guidance; water-based does not automatically mean environmentally safe or hazard-free.

There is no universal winner for every garage or workshop. Match the individual product to the concrete condition, expected traffic and cleaning exposure, and compare the dedicated polyurethane options where appropriate.

Use only an individual product that explicitly supports the concrete surface and intended use. Prepare it as directed and use a primer only where compatible with that coating system.

Do not assume that acrylic will bond to every old alkyd coating. Identify the existing finish, check adhesion and confirm the preparation and primer system with the selected product's supplier before recoating.

Use cleaning and maintenance methods compatible with the cured coating. Follow the product's limits for detergents, chemicals, abrasives and traffic; routine maintenance does not eliminate wear.
