Extreme Paints Acrylic Floor Paint is a water-based, single-pack acrylic coating for prepared concrete floors. It adds colour and sealing protection in one system for indoor and outdoor projects. Choose Normal for a smooth satin finish or Anti Slip for a satin textured finish with silica grit.

This acrylic floor paint is suitable for garages, workshops, utility areas, patios, paths, ramps and suitable block paving. Its breathable coating allows moisture vapour to escape and helps reduce the risk of blistering or peeling when the surface is correctly prepared. Once fully cured, it helps protect against dust, tyre scuffs, oil drips, salt deposits, light chemical exposure and everyday wear.

Key features

  • Water-based, low-odour acrylic floor paint and sealer in one coating system.
  • Satin smooth or textured anti-slip finish; silica grit is supplied with the anti-slip option.
  • Touch dry and ready to recoat in 2–4 hours at 18 °C.
  • Suitable for interior and exterior use on prepared concrete and other listed surfaces.
  • Coverage of approximately 6–8 m² per litre per coat; two coats are recommended.
  • Manufactured in the UK; tools clean up with warm soapy water.

Suitable uses and surfaces

  • Concrete slabs and sand/cement screeds that are sound, dry and prepared.
  • Patios, paths and suitable block paving, free from moss, oil and loose material.
  • Garage floors, workshops and utility areas where a coloured, dust-resistant coating is wanted.
  • Well-bonded, compatible existing coatings after cleaning and removal of loose or flaking paint.

Not suitable for: asphalt, self-levelling screeds or natural stone with protruding aggregate.

20 L 120–160 m² 60–80 m²

Coverage varies with surface porosity, profile and application method. The product is offered in 5 L, 10 L and 20 L packs and a bulk 1,000 L IBC. Choose from 14 standard colours: Light Grey, Mid Grey, Dark Grey, Red, Light Blue, Mid Blue, Dark Blue, Mid Green, Dark Green, Black, White, Sandstone, Terracotta and Brown. Colour appearance can vary by screen and substrate.

Preparation and application

  1. Prepare the surface: it must be sound, dry and free from dust, grease, oil, moss and loose paint. The supplier specifies moisture below 15%. Lightly etch or mechanically abrade polished or power-floated concrete to improve adhesion.
  2. Prime bare concrete: use Extreme Seal Concrete Dustproofer / Floor Primer & Sealer on bare, porous or uncoated concrete to improve adhesion and help achieve an even finish.
  3. Mix and apply: stir thoroughly for two minutes. Mix the supplied silica grit evenly into the anti-slip option. Apply a thin, even coat by brush or medium-nap roller. The smooth option may also be sprayed; apply the anti-slip option by brush or roller.
  4. Apply the second coat: recoat after 2–4 hours at 18 °C and apply the second coat at right angles to the first. Avoid puddling and over-application.

Drying and curing

  • Touch dry: 2–4 hours at 18 °C.
  • Ready to recoat: 2–4 hours at 18 °C.
  • Light foot traffic: after 12 hours.
  • Vehicle traffic: after 48 hours.
  • Full cure and chemical resistance: 7 days.

Lower temperatures, high humidity, poor ventilation or thicker application will extend drying and curing times. Allow the full cure before exposing the coating to vehicle traffic or chemicals.

Finish, compatibility and clean-up

The finish is satin, available smooth or textured anti-slip. The paint is supplied ready to use. If spraying the smooth option, thin only if needed with a maximum of 5% clean water. Clean brushes and rollers with warm soapy water. Do not spray the anti-slip option.

Storage and safety

Store sealed containers in a cool, dry, frost-free place, away from direct sunlight, and keep the container closed when not in use. The supplier lists a 24-month shelf life for unopened containers. Provide ventilation during indoor use, wear suitable gloves and eye protection, and consult the Safety Data Sheet before application. Keep children and pets away until the coating has fully cured.
