Frequently Asked Questions

What surfaces can Skip & Container Paint be used on?

Trade Supplies UK Skip & Container Paint is designed for steel skips, shipping containers, waste bins, metal cladding, and primed steel surfaces. It can also be applied to prepared concrete, brick, and timber when correctly primed. For bare or rusted steel, always apply a compatible anti-corrosive oxide primer first to ensure maximum adhesion and long-term rust protection.

How many coats are needed for the best result?

Two thin coats are recommended for optimal durability and colour depth. Applying two coats ensures a uniform, high-gloss finish and strengthens corrosion protection across the surface. Avoid applying a single heavy coat, as this can cause runs or uneven drying. Allow 6–8 hours drying time between each coat at 18°C.

Can Trade Supplies UK Skip & Container Paint be sprayed?

Yes, all products in the range are suitable for airless spray application as well as brush or roller. If the paint is too thick for your spray equipment, thin it with up to 15% white spirit, adding only the minimum amount needed to achieve sprayability. Always clean equipment immediately after use with white spirit.

What colours and sizes are available?

Trade Supplies UK offers 13 industrial stock colours including Light Grey, Mid Grey, Dark Grey, Black, White, Blue, Mid Green, Dark Green, Red, Post Office Red, Orange, Yellow, and Brown. Each colour is available in 5 L, 10 L, and 20 L containers, with 1,000-litre IBC tanks also available for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.

How long does Skip & Container Paint take to dry and cure fully?

At 18°C, the paint is touch dry within 6–8 hours and can be recoated after the same period. Full cure, providing maximum hardness and chemical resistance, is achieved after 7 days. In colder temperatures, drying and curing times will be extended, so always check conditions before starting your project.
