Compare grey decking paint using the product’s timber approval, actual shade options and application requirements. This guide is a selection checklist rather than a tested market ranking or proof of current colour trends.
The three current grey options
The listed Extreme Anti-Slip Decking Paint has Light Grey, Mid Grey and Dark Grey options. Compare the names shown on the product page rather than using Slate Grey or another brand’s shade description as if they were equivalent.
Check the deck before comparing colour
Identify timber, old paint, oil or stain and any moisture or damage. The Extreme decking product is not suitable for composite decking. Confirm the exact coating’s compatibility and preparation rather than choosing only from an attractive colour photograph.
Compare complete application requirements
Check coat count, coverage, additive instructions and all curing stages. The current Extreme product is supplied with separate silica additive, which must be mixed as instructed. Apply that mixture by brush or roller; do not spray grit paint.
Do not rank grip from the name
An anti-slip finish does not guarantee grip on wet contamination or ice. Where a formal slip requirement applies, obtain relevant product-specific test evidence for the intended conditions. Maintain the surface and inspect wear.
Choose an appearance you can assess
Screens and photos are useful for comparison but are not an exact colour specification. Test a small prepared area and assess it as directed. No grey shade is universally lower-maintenance, longer-lasting or best for every garden.
Use the main guides
Read the grey shade selection guide for appearance choices and the decking application guide for the work sequence. Keep specialist suitability questions open until the correct technical information is available.
