Choose the appearance
Compare Extreme Seal Block Paving Sealer and the block-paving sealer range. Wet Look is the colour-enhancing choice; Matt is an alternative where a subtler appearance is wanted. Test a small prepared area because colour and sheen depend on the paving and existing finish.
Check the paving first
Identify the paving material, joint condition and previous coating. A sealer cannot repair subsidence, failed drainage, broken blocks or moving paving. Do not transfer block-paving instructions to sandstone, tarmac or imprinted concrete without approval for the exact surface.
Plan preparation
Follow the chosen product’s cleaning, joint preparation and surface-readiness instructions. The current block-paving guidance calls for at least four weeks after new paving, with preparation and readiness checks still required. A waiting period alone does not establish that the paving is ready.
Calculate the quantity
The approved coverage is 6–8 m² per litre per coat: 5 litres covers 30–40 m² per coat. Apply the required coat count to that calculation and plan for the actual surface. See the coverage calculation method for the arithmetic, using the paving product’s own rate.
Apply the approved finish
Confirm weather conditions, application method, coat count, recoat window and return-to-service stages. If an anti-slip finish is needed, follow the exact additive and method instructions. Do not assume that spraying a grit mixture is approved or that texture guarantees grip on oil, algae or ice.
Maintenance and performance
Inspect worn areas and maintain the finish as instructed. Sealing does not guarantee a weed-free or moss-free surface and is not a structural joint repair. Require product-specific evidence for formal slip requirements or a particular hot-tyre or chemical exposure; generic polyurethane wording is insufficient. Follow the safety data sheet for handling and protection.
