Extreme Paints Metal Oxide Primer is a premium long‑oil polyurethane primer specifically formulated to provide professional-grade protection for bare steel, cast iron, aluminium, galvanised metal, and hardwood timber. Enriched with anti-corrosive metal oxide pigments, it penetrates the substrate to form an active, durable barrier that prevents rust, corrosion, and moisture damage. This makes it an essential first coat for industrial machinery, construction equipment, skips, silos, metal fabrications, and DIY restoration projects.

The high-solids formulation ensures excellent flow and levelling properties, reducing brush marks, roller lines, and spray streaks for a smooth, semi-gloss finish. Once applied, the primer remains slightly flexible, allowing it to withstand metal expansion, vibration, and thermal stress without cracking or flaking. It also sands easily, enabling a seamless finish for subsequent solvent-based enamels, polyurethane topcoats, or machinery paints.

Manufactured in the UK under ISO 9001 quality assurance, Extreme Paints Metal Oxide Primer is supplied in 5 L, 10 L, and 20 L tins, providing options for both small touch-ups and large-scale industrial or commercial applications. The primer is available in Grey and Red oxide, with custom BS 4800 or RAL colours available for bulk orders of 100 L or more, making it suitable for fleet management, equipment refurbishments, or site-wide coating programs.

Suitable Substrates

Mild steel, cast iron, galvanised steel (after etch), aluminium, hardwood timber, plywood, prepared concrete, and masonry. Not recommended for plastics or non-porous synthetic materials.

Coverage & Spread Rate

Storage & Clean-Up

Store in a cool, dry environment (5–30 °C) away from flames or sparks. Keep tins sealed when not in use. Clean brushes, rollers, and spray equipment immediately with white spirit before the primer sets.

Batch & Packaging

For uniform colour and finish, order the total quantity needed in one batch. During high demand, tins may be supplied plain with Trade Supplies UK labelling; product performance is identical.
