Extreme Paints Anti‑Slip Decking Paint is a high-bond, weatherproof acrylic polymer deck coating formulated to restore and protect outdoor wooden decking, steps, and verandas. The flexible satin film resists cracking, fading, and UV damage during harsh summers and wet winters. As a deck paint without primer, it saves time on installation and delivers long-lasting colour and protection.

Two thin coats create a durable satin wood deck finish (~50 µm DFT) that withstands heavy foot traffic and patio furniture wear. Get non-slip decking paint by mixing in the silica additive for added safety—ideal for areas around pools, ramps, or stairs. ISO 9001 certified and manufactured in the UK, it’s perfect for homeowners, landscapers, and commercial property use.

Suitable Substrates

Softwood or hardwood decking boards, wooden steps, garden furniture, concrete slabs, and masonry - ideal for long-lasting exterior wood deck paint. Not suitable for composite decking.

Safety Disclaimer

Water-based, low VOC outdoor deck paint - ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid skin and eye contact; keep out of reach of children. Refer to the SDS for PPE instructions.

  1. Surface Preparation for deck paint:
Clean timber of dirt, algae, and loose coatings. Ensure wood moisture is <18% for best results with UV-resistant deck paint for wood. Sand glossy areas to a matt key.
  2. Mixing:
Stir paint thoroughly for 2 minutes. For a non-slip deck coating, slowly add silica powder while stirring for even dispersion.
  3. First Coat:
Apply a thin, even layer of exterior timber deck paint by brush or roller, following the grain - avoid pooling in grooves or gaps.
  4. Second Coat:
Recoat after 2–4 hours at 90° to the first pass to ensure full deck protection and a satin finish.
  5. Option to Spray Smooth Finish:
The smooth variant - timber deck paint satin finish—can be sprayed via HVLP or airless after filtration; the anti-slip version should be rolled only.

Curing: Protect from rain for at least 6 hours. Add furniture after 24 hours; full performance after 7 days of cure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to prime my deck before applying this decking paint?
No, this self-priming anti-slip decking paint for wood and concrete bonds directly to clean, dry timber without primer.
How much anti-slip additive do I add for non-slip deck paint?
One silica sachet per 5 L tin—can add up to 50 % more for extra non-slip decking paint on steps or ramps.
Can I spray the anti-slip version of this deck coating paint?
No, silica grit clogs spray tips. Spray only the smooth satin version; apply anti-slip via roller.
Does the satin deck paint for wood grain hide the timber texture?
Yes, it provides an opaque finish while still showcasing the natural wood grain.
Can I use this non-slip decking paint on concrete steps?
Absolutely. It’s an effective non-slip paint for concrete steps, suitable after concrete is etched and cleaned.
How long after rain should I wait before painting my deck?
Ensure wood moisture is < 18 % or wait 48 h of dry conditions. Proper prep prevents bubbling in your best anti-slip deck paint.
Is this paint pet-safe once cured?
Yes. It’s a low-VOC decking paint, non-toxic and safe for yards—just keep pets off while wet.
Will this deck paint crack under winter weather?
No. This weather-resistant acrylic deck paint remains flexible down to –10 °C. Do not apply below 8 °C.
How often will I need to refresh this deck coating?
Expect 3–5 years on horizontal decking and 7+ years on vertical surfaces with this long-lasting UV deck paint.
Can I order a custom deck paint colour?
Yes, factory tinting is available for orders ≥ 20 L—ideal for bespoke decking paint colours.
Will furniture legs damage the deck paint?
It’s scratch-resistant, but using felt pads is recommended to protect this hard-wearing deck coating.
Which roller sleeve is best for a smooth deck finish?
A 4–6 mm microfibre sleeve ensures a smooth coat; use an 8–10 mm nap when applying the anti-slip deck coating.
How do I prep for mold-resistant deck painting?
Scrub mildew with bleach or deck cleaner, rinse well, and sand before applying this deck restoration paint.
Can I paint in full sun with this UV-protectant decking paint?
Avoid painting above 30 °C. UV-resistant deck finish performs best in shade or early morning.
What if the deck was previously treated with oil?
Strip to bare wood, let weather for 2 weeks, sand, then apply this acrylic anti-slip deck paint—oil residue prevents adhesion.
