Paintmaster Tarmac Paint & Sealer is a single-pack acrylic resin coating designed to restore faded or fretting tarmac driveways, pathways, and car-park bays. The breathable film bonds strongly to asphalt and porous concrete, recolouring the surface while sealing against water ingress, oil spills, and everyday abrasion.

Two versions are supplied:

  • Normal – smooth satin finish for standard domestic driveways

  • Anti-Slip – identical formulation pre-charged with fine silica aggregate to leave a subtle, textured satin that improves slip resistance in wet conditions without feeling overly abrasive.

Manufactured in the UK under ISO 9001 QA, the paint is available in 5 L, 10 L and 20 L tins for projects of all sizes, ideal for driveway maintenance and exterior surface protection.

Suitable Substrates

  • Tarmac, tarmacadam, asphalt and bare* porous concrete (*Concrete should be etched or primed with Paintmaster Concrete Primer where very dense.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Anti-Slip version feel rough?
No, the anti-slip tarmac paint leaves a fine texture similar to very fine sandpaper. It is comfortable underfoot while providing noticeably better grip on wet surfaces, making it ideal for safer driveway coatings and ramps.
Will the paint hide deep cracks or holes in my driveway?
No, this tarmac paint and sealer does not fill cracks or holes. For best results, repair damaged areas first using cold-lay asphalt or a suitable filler, allow it to set fully, then apply the paint.
Can I spray the Normal version of this acrylic tarmac paint?
Yes, you can spray the Normal version using an airless sprayer with a 0.017" tip after thinning the paint with about 10% water. However, most contractors prefer to apply it by roller or brush for better control.
How long will the colour last before fading?
Thanks to UV-stable pigments, the water-based tarmac paint maintains strong colour for 3 to 5 years before gradually mattifying. Darker colours like Black and Charcoal tend to fade slower than lighter shades.
Is it suitable for painting concrete kerbs at driveway edges?
Yes, but for best adhesion on dense concrete, either etch the surface first or apply an acrylic concrete primer before using the tarmac sealer.
Is the paint safe for pets once dry?
Yes. After the paint has fully cured (approximately 7 days), the film is inert and washable. Keep pets off the surface while it is still drying overnight to avoid tracking.
What is the minimum temperature for applying this paint?
Apply only when the temperature is 10 °C or higher and rising. Avoid application if dew or frost is expected within 12 hours, to ensure proper curing of the acrylic driveway paint.
How do I clean oil drips or spills on the painted surface?
Use a detergent and warm water to clean light oil spills. The paint resists light oil, but avoid prolonged pooling to maintain the integrity of the tarmac coating.
Can I mix colours to create a custom shade?
Yes, you can blend base paints to create bespoke colours. However, be aware that shade consistency may vary between batches.
How often will I need to recoat my driveway with this paint?
For typical domestic driveways, recoating every 4 to 5 years is recommended. High-traffic commercial or industrial areas may require touch-ups or recoating after 2 to 3 years for continued protection.
