Extreme Paints Industrial-Grade Polyurethane Floor Paint is a heavy-duty, solvent-based floor coating specially engineered for tough industrial environments such as factories, warehouses, workshops, and high-traffic garage floors. This single-pack PU floor paint forms a durable, oil-resistant, and chemical-resistant surface that holds up against forklift traffic, tyre abrasion, impacts, and wear.

The anti-slip polyurethane variant is pre-mixed with fine silica particles, adding surface texture for improved traction on ramps and wet floors—ideal for loading docks and commercial kitchens. Easier to apply than two-part epoxies, this solvent-based polyurethane coating levels smoothly and delivers a long-lasting, high-gloss finish.

Manufactured in the UK under ISO 9001 QA protocols, each batch is viscosity-checked to ensure colour consistency and coverage. Always in stock for rapid dispatch—perfect for time-sensitive projects where large industrial floor areas need immediate coating.

Suitable Substrates

  • Bare or sealed concrete (must be dry and properly prepared)

  • Ground power-floated or polished concrete

  • Prepared metal surfaces

  • Sound timber floors

  • Most porous masonry surfaces

Note: Avoid using on self-levelling screeds unless tested—most are non-porous and not ideal for solvent-based PU coatings.

Primer Required: Apply Extreme Paints Clear Polyurethane Primer & Sealer to bare, porous, or mechanically ground concrete for optimal adhesion and penetration.

Coverage & Spread Rate

  • 5–7 m² per litre per coat (varies by surface porosity)

  • 5 L tin ≈ 15 m² (2 coats)

  • 20 L tin ≈ 60 m² (2 coats)

Drying & Curing Times (@ 18 °C)

  • Touch dry: 6–8 hours

  • Recoat: 6–8 hours

  • Light foot traffic: 24 hours

  • Forklift/vehicle use: 72 hours

  • Full cure (chemical resistance): 7 days

 Storage & Thinning

  • Store between 5 °C and 30 °C in sealed containers

  • Use white spirit or PU thinner (≤ 5%) for spray application

  • Order total required volume in a single batch to ensure colour consistency

Application Instructions

1. Surface Preparation

  • Remove all loose paint, grease, dust, or debris

  • Substrate moisture should be below 4%

  • Mechanically grind power-floated concrete

  • Avoid painting over damp surfaces

2. Priming

  • Use Extreme Paints Polyurethane Primer & Sealer on bare, porous or brittle concrete

3. Mixing

  • Stir thoroughly for 3 minutes with a paddle mixer

  • For the anti-slip version, ensure silica grit is evenly dispersed

4. Application Method

  • Brush or roller for both finishes

  • Airless or HVLP spray for a smooth gloss finish only

  • Do not spray anti-slip variant—grit will clog nozzles

  • Apply two thin coats at right angles for best coverage

5. Curing

  • Wait 6–8 hours between coats

  • Allow 24 hours for foot traffic

  • Forklift-safe after 72 hours

Fully cured, chemical-resistant surface in 7 days

  1. Surface Preparation – Remove dust, grease and loose paint. Ensure substrate is dry (< 4 % moisture). Grind power‑floated concrete and etch self‑levelling screeds.
  2. Priming – Apply one thin coat of Extreme Paints Clear Polyurethane Primer & Sealer on bare, porous or ground concrete.
  3. Mixing – Stir the paint thoroughly with a paddle mixer for 3 minutes. Ensure anti‑slip grit is evenly distributed if applicable.
  4. Application Method – Brush or roller. Airless or HVLP spray for normal finish only (anti‑slip variant is not sprayable). Apply two thin, even coats at right angles, avoiding puddles.
  5. Curing – Allow 6–8 h between coats. Light foot traffic after 24 h; forklift traffic after 72 h at 18 °C. Full chemical resistance in seven days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this industrial PU floor paint withstand forklift traffic?
Yes, it is a forklift-grade polyurethane coating. The high-build PU film resists tyre shear and hot-tyre pickup once fully cured.
What makes this better than epoxy floor paint?
Unlike epoxy, polyurethane floor paint is more flexible and impact-resistant, making it better for vibrating floors and simpler to apply as a single-pack product.
Is the anti-slip polyurethane version harder to maintain?
The fine silica texture does retain a bit more dirt, but is easily cleanable using a degreaser and stiff brush—perfect for non-slip warehouse floors.
Can I spray the anti-slip floor paint?
No. The grit in the anti-slip version will block spray tips. Use a roller or brush for application.
Will the floor paint yellow over time?
Slight ambering may occur under strong UV light, particularly with lighter shades. For indoor or shaded use, colour change is minimal.
How long should I wait before using forklifts or pallet jacks?
Wait at least 72 hours after application at 18 °C. In cooler temperatures, allow more time for proper curing.
Does this PU coating resist petrol, brake fluid, and solvents?
Yes, it’s a chemical-resistant polyurethane floor paint that withstands most automotive fluids and common solvents when cleaned promptly.
Can I apply this to slightly damp concrete?
No. Moisture under solvent-based coatings can cause blistering. Concrete must be below 4 % moisture before applying this PU concrete floor sealer.
How can I achieve a mirror-like gloss?
Use a short-nap roller to apply thin, even coats. Avoid overworking the paint once it begins setting.
Do you offer custom RAL or BS colours?
Yes. For bulk orders of 100 L or more, we can manufacture custom polyurethane floor paints in any RAL or BS shade.
Is priming necessary on all concrete floors?
Yes, especially on bare, ground, or polished concrete. Use our PU Primer & Sealer to enhance adhesion.
What is the best temperature for the application?
Apply between 10 °C and 25 °C with low humidity for optimal performance and drying.
How do I clean the tools after use?
Clean immediately with white spirit or PU thinner.
How should I store leftover floor paint?
Reseal tightly and store indoors between 5 °C and 30 °C. Keep away from ignition sources.
Will the floor colour be consistent across tins?
Slight variation may occur between batches. Order the full quantity in one batch to ensure a consistent finish.
